No forward or back rolls are required for this class, but participants will have the opportunity / option to develop those movements as part of this series. | This class will focus on the development and refinement of basic Aikido forms and movements. The primary emphasis will be on building fluency and precision in the movements that serve as the foundation for Aikido techniques and ukemi practice. Students taking these classes should end the series with an ability to perform their Aikido with more confidence, power and efficiency; as well as an enhanced ability to learn new techniques more quickly. |

Adults can attend with the permission of Josh Gold | This mixed Children’s Aikido class is designed for students of all ages and levels. Students from the children’s program can train together along with dojo instructors, and select members from the adult Aikido program, including parents of kids in the children’s program. The class is structured to allow for targeted practice and instruction designed to provide valuable and challenging sessions for all participants. Adult dojo students that would like to participate in this class should contact Josh Gold prior to attendance. |
| 11:00am-12:00pm | Multiple Attacker Defenses | Josh Gold / Wes Watkins | Open to students of all levels. However, participants need to be comfortable with basic ukemi (forward rolls and back falls). | This series will focus on developing the fundamental principles and techniques required to successfully defend against multiple attackers. Specific areas of focus include development of basic movement skills required to deal with multiple attackers, and practice of ninidori (two person grab attacks), jiyuwaza (multiple attackers: one at a time), and randori (multiple simultaneous attackers). Training is designed to be accessible to beginning Aikido practitioners so long as they are comfortable with basic ukemi (forward rolls and back falls). However, some segments of the classes may occasionally focus on advanced training exclusively. Newer students will sit and learn through observation during these portions of the classes. |
