Additionally, the series will cover proper stance, basic hand movements and footwork, ukemi (proper falling), and Dojo rules and etiquette.

Prerequisites: None

Beginning Aikido

Prerequisites:

  • Introduction to Aikido or previous Aikido experience
  • Yudansha may only attend if they are direct students of Matsuoka Sensei.

Intermediate Aikido
Intermediate classes emphasize further refinement of Aikido basics and ukemi as well as introducing a variety of advanced techniques that can be applied against grabs, strikes, kicks, and other attacks. Classes may include randori training, kokyu practice, or other concepts at the discretion of the Chief Instructor.

Prerequisites:

  • Students must be 3rd kyu or have 100 classes prior to attending the Monday and Friday intermediate class.
  • Students must be at least 5th kyu to attend the Wednesday intermediate class.
  • This class may also include high intensity ukemi (falling). Please attend this class only if you are sufficiently comfortable with your ukemi skill.

Advanced Aikido
Advanced Aikido is a high intensity class focused on defenses from high-speed attacks, multiple attacks, randori, kaeshiwaza, kokyu, or other advanced concepts. Advanced class is held the first and third Friday of each month.

Prerequisites:
